Winner of the 2005 Grammy Award for mastering, Arnie Acosta has had one of the more notable careers in the history of modern recording. In addition to being U2's mastering engineer for the past 19 years, Arnie has been the final touch to such artists as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, The Who, Frank Zappa, Peter Frampton, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Shania Twain and The Carpenters. His staff positions at A & M Records and Warner Brothers, as well as his long term association with The Mastering Lab in Hollywood, has given him a limitless range of experience from the rock world of U2 to the symphonic world of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra.
Raised in Detroit and Los Angeles in a musical family, his father a drummer,
his mother a singer and dancer, music was the main thrust of the household
from Arnie's earliest memories. Recorded music became more than just
entertainment, it became a curiosity as to how the marvels of the recording
processes worked. From vinyl to cassettes to compact discs, the curiosity
continues to grow to this very day, and helping to bring recorded music
to the world, has to him, become an ever increasing joy and pleasure.
